First Afghan peace conference to be held at Bhurban today

 The first Afghan peace conference titled ‘Lahore Process’ will be held in Bhurban Murree today. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will address the inaugural session of the conference on Afghan peace titled Lahore Process to be held at Bhurban today. Heads of all Afghan political parties and the political advisor to Afghan President will participate in the conference. In all, fifty seven delegates are expected to attend the moot including Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, senators and members of Afghan parliament. The Lahore Process will discuss different areas including connectivity, trade, economy and health. It will also discuss the issue of repatriation of Afghan refugees who have been living in Pakistan for the last four decades. Amir Qatar to arrive in Islamabad today

Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to arrive in Islamabad today on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. The Amir of Qatar, who is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, will be accompanied by a high level delegation comprising key Ministers and senior officials. Govt committed to resolve public problems at district level: CM Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Thursday said that the provincial government had adopted a holistic approach to solving public problems at the district level. Talking to a group of legislators hailing from Rawalpindi, who called on him today, CM Buzdar said that they would provide maximum facilities to people at their doorstep. In a statement issued from his office, CM Buzdar said that the standard of healthcare and educational facilities in Rawalpindi division will be further improved. The MPAs apprised the chief minister about their problems, development schemes and public welfare initiatives of their constituencies. Hyderabad Train accident: Railway track restored after 15 hours

Investigators in their initial probe into yesterday’s Jinnah Express train accident suspected that it occurred because of negligence on the part of the driver and assistant driver of a passenger train that rammed into a coal-laded goods train near Hyderabad. According to a report, the accident occurred at 5:30pm when Jinnah Express passenger train rammed into Sahiwal Coal Special train. Railway track restored after 15 hours  Consequently, a train driver and two assistant drivers were killed while a guard got injured. Besides, it said, the passenger train’s engine was completely damaged while the power van and a bogie of the goods train also suffered damage. The report said there were no reports of any passenger receiving injuries as a result of the collision. The passenger train going from Karachi to Lahore collided with the freight train which was stationary near Hyderabad railway station. Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed satisfaction about all-weather and time-tested Pak-China friendship saying it is transforming into a robust economic partnership. IHC to hear Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea on medical grounds today

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up the plea filed by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seeking bail in the Al-Azizia case on medical grounds on Wednesday (today). The division bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will preside the hearing. In the last hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)had submitted its detailed reply in the court. The NAB has requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to throw out a petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seeking his release from prison on medical grounds. In a detailed reply submitted to the IHC in response to Sharif’s plea, the anti-graft watchdog stated that the petition at hand is the third one seeking relief on the grounds similar to previous ones and therefore, is not maintainable and liable to be dismissed with exemplary costs. MQM-P to get one more ministry in Centre: PM Khan

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government has agreed to give one more ministry to its ally Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) in Centre, on Wednesday. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to chair ECC meeting today

The meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet will be held with Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair on Wednesday (today). PTI govt to complete sustainable development in southern Punjab: CM Buzdar

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday said his government believes in the fair distribution of resources, Radio Pakistan reported. Seven children in Thar's Mithi die of malnutrition

At least seven children died Sunday due to malnutrition and various other diseases here in the district's Civil Hospital Mithi, sources said. According to sources at the Department of Health, the ages of the deceased children were between two days and three years and they died in the past 24 hours. The latest seven deaths bring the number of total deaths to 38 this month and 386 this year.

PM Khan to chair party meeting today

Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leaders and spokespersons on Saturday to discuss the current political situation and budget-2019. As per details, PM Imran Khan would preside over the meeting at his Bani Gala residence and briefed the participants about the party’s narrative in the wake of current situation, said sources. NAB to present Faryal Talpur in accountability court today

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will present Pakistan Peoples Party leader Faryal Talpur before an accountability court to seek her physical remand for investigation into a case related to money laundering through alleged fake bank accounts. The corruption watchdog will request the court to remand the PPP leader in its custody for 14 days for questioning. She is expected to be brought to the court today at 10am. Talpur’s arrest followed on the heels of her brother, former president Asif Ali Zardari being taken into custody by the anti-graft body earlier this week. The United States says Iran is responsible for the attacks on tankers in Gulf of Oman. The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo talking to news persons in Washington said the United States has assessed the type of weapons used and sophistication of assaults. He said Iran’s unprovoked attacks are part of a campaign to escalate tension and it is working to disrupt the flow of oil through Strait of Hormuz. Arrest warrants of Faryal Talpur issued NAB: Source

The anti-corruption watchdog has issued an arrest warrant of the sibling of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur. Sources said that the arrest warrant has been handed over to NAB Rawalpindi chapter after approval of chairman Justice (Retd.) Javed Iqbal. Following the directions, NAB Rawalpindi constituted a team to arrest the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Faryal Talpur. A special team of NAB intelligence officers were also tasked to trace out the location of the PPP leader. The development was made after the arrest of Zardari as Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected bail pleas of the former president and his sister Faryal Talpur in a mega money laundering case on June 10.

Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan agree to upgrade mutual cooperation in diverse fields

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including land, air connectivity and tourism between the two countries. According to the details, the agreement was reached at a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Sharipovich Jeenbekov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek on Thursday.
