Labour Day: President, PM reiterate Govt's resolve to protect rights of workers

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan in their messages on the eve of Labour Day today reiterated the government commitment to effectively protect the rights of workers to help them meet emerging challenges of globalization.

President in his message said Government will do its utmost to ameliorate and improve the socio-economic conditions of workers.

He said that this day is not only a reminder of the struggle of workers but also an acknowledgement of their importance for national growth and progress.

Prime Minister in his message said the labour day also affords us an opportunity to recognize the valuable contribution being made by the workers.

He said dividends of inclusive economic growth cannot be realized if the workers are deprived of their due rights and opportunities. The Prime Minister said workers are our partners in growth and development.

The Prime Minister said government is endeavoring to strengthen the labour market and have a plan to create 10 million jobs over five years in key sectors like housing, SMEs, health, education, green economy and tourism.

Imran Khan in his message felicitating the workers invited to become partner of the government in realizing Naya Pakistan.

IHC to hear Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea on medical grounds today

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up the plea filed by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seeking bail in the Al-Azizia case on medical grounds on Wednesday (today). The division bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will preside the hearing. In the last hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)had submitted its detailed reply in the court. The NAB has requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to throw out a petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seeking his release from prison on medical grounds. PM Khan had ended tolerance for corruption: Fawad Chudry

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday asserted that all state institutions stand by Prime Minister Imran Khan and are working together to lead the country toward development. While talking to journalists, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that before Khan came to power, every politician thought that “corruption was their right”. England inflicted a heavy 104-run defeat over South Africa on Thursday in the opening match of the 2019 World Cup at Kennington Oval in London. Chasing a 308-run target, South Africa were dealt an early blow when opener Hashim Amla had to retire hurt after copping a Jofra Archer bouncer.
